Winnie's Hometown Festival is the 3rd weekend in August, Friday through Sunday every year. It is this weekend (or close to) when the original Black Bear cub was purchased by Lt. Colebourn who went on to become Winnie the Bear. Winnie was donated to the London Zoo and it is there that Christopher Robin Milne fell in love with her. Christoper Robin renamed his teddy bear, who was named Edward Bear, to Winnie-the-Pooh, and the rest is history.
